Colorful Hawaiian Delight

I think this blog has turned into a showcase for my creations rather than what it originally was intended for...everyday life.  Oops!

Today I finished another Hawaii honeymoon page.  It started out as a big mess but I made it work somehow.  Andrew has actually been giving me input from time to time on my projects and he had the idea to make the flowers stick up to give the page dimension.  Great idea!  He is seriously amazingly creative.  I can't even imagine what he would come up with if he did this.

Well, on to the fun stuff!  Here are the pictures.  It's really hard to just pic one or two pictures to post so here are a ton.

Full page shot.  For some reason I can't rotate it.

Embossed with Cuttlebug and Swiss Dots folder then inked

Detail shot

Stamps & marker embossed then glittered

Embossed with Cuttlebug using various folders then inked

Raised flower

I like detail shots!

Hope you enjoyed!  It's not easy coming up with ideas out of nowhere and this is exactly what I did with this one.  I started off with doing it one way but that didn't look right so on it went until this happened.

I have no clue what my next page will be but I know it will be fun to make.  Actually I think my next project will be a Thank You card for my grandparents.  That sounds nice.  It will be a break from making a 12x12 page.  Cards are so much easier to make.

Honeymoon scrapbooking has commenced

Today I tried out some new techniques.  Embossing and antiquing/distressing.  You've seen some of my other work with embossing but today I ventured into new territory.  Embossing with an embossing tool, embossing powder, and embossing markers.  Oh yes, I tried all this for the first time today.  Antiquing/distressing was a new adventure as well.
Cruisin' Caravan - die cut kit purchased from www.svgcuts.com

Inked edges and embossed handwriting

Ditressed/antiqued look

A different angle

The die cuts (suitcase, stamp, etc) were purchased from www.svgcuts.com.

I used the Cricut and Make the Cut software to cut the kit.

The paper was all from either Joann's or Michaels (4 or 5/$1).  I never buy anything full price.

I crumbled the suitcase and used Tim Holtz' distressing ink to create the antiqued look.

The red tag is embossed using a Cuttlebug and the Swiss Dots folder.

The blue and also the white tags were inked on the edges.  I then smeared the ink to give the paper a new look.

The handwritten portion of the page was written with embossing markers then topped with clear embossing powder and heated up with a heating tool.

This was a fun project to work on especially since a lot of the techniques I used were new to me.  Can't wait to create more awesomeness!

Gift Card Holder

Today's fun project was a last minute gift card holder.  I say last minute because I thought of it on the way home from work.

We're having a White Elephant Christmas exchange tomorrow.  I wanted to get nice coffee travel mugs and a bag of Starbuck's coffee but that didn't happen.  Yes, I procrastinated!  I ended up getting a Starbuck's gift card instead.  To go with my nifty gift card I made a cute gift card holder.

Since I couldn't buy the mug I decided to make one!

For my first try at this particular item I don;t think I did too bad.  I should have made it bigger but my measurements were off.  I could have also gone into way more detail with the card but like I mentioned, it was last minute.  I had to put up our Christmas tree, prepare food for the festivities tomorrow, etc.  I was one busy lady today!  Hope whoever gets it likes it...if they even notice it was homemade.  :)

Cricut Expression giveaway

As you know I have been posting about one of my favorite site, www.svgcuts.com, which I visit almost daily to download images or just browse.  I have won something 3 times already by participating in contests they hold.  Well, tonight is the mac daddy of all giveaways.  They are giving away a Cricut Expression bundle and a Cricut Personal cutter along with more gift cards.  Now I know I already have a Cricut but it would be mighty nice to win one of them and give it as a gift to one of my awesome crafty friends or family members.

I'll be around tonight watching their live broadcast online hoping that I am one of the lucky winners.  Here's the link to the info: http://svgcuts.com/blog/?p=8018

Win #3 for me!

I just saw that I won a $10 gift card from www.svgcuts.com.  Woohoo!  That's win #3 for me so far since I found the site.  Now I have to figure out which awesome file I want to download.

I have one last Thank You card to show.  It has a little too much going on with it but it's too late to fix what needs to be fixed without ruining it.  I got the birdie off another awesome site http://scale-files.blogspot.com/.  Paulo, the owner of the site, does some amazing work!  All his images are free to download and I have to tell you they are beautiful!

And still going...

I am still working on Thank You cards.  I made another set today which I think are way cute.  I downloaded the birdcage image from www.svgcuts.com, my favorite site ever!!  By the way, they have been doing a 12 Days of Christmas giveaway that has some pretty awesome stuff including Cricut's!  As you all may have learned by now my Cricut is my bestest bud.

The link to the giveaway is: http://svgcuts.com/blog/?p=8033

And here are my cards!!

Thank you

See the little birdie in the cage?

Detail shot.  Actually I left one minor detail out.  Oh well.

Thank you cards in progress

I graduated this past weekend and I have to say that I have the most awesome family and friends ever!  The turn out for the party I had after the ceremony was more than I expected!  I am so grateful for all the wonderful people in my life.  Thank you all!

On that note, it's after midnight on a Thursday night and what is Kasi doing?  Working on some Thank You cards in appreciation for my family and friend's awesomeness!  I am chugging away on these babies.  Oh, I don;t work tomorrow so that's another reason I am being an insomniac at the moment.

Here's Thank You card #1....which one of you will get it???

Oh paper how I love thee!

Handwritten "Thank You"
All the things you can do with making cards is amazing.  I envy some of the cards I see online and strive to make my cards look like theirs.  Problem is...I have no clue how they do it!  I'm learning though.  It's taking tons of time and some money to get all this down but it's definitely working so far.

Embossed "Thank You"
One technique I just learned is embossing.  I have been dying to figure that one out so I finally did some research and found that there are machines that emboss.  Duh!  I mean I have a machine that cuts images so of course there's be a machine that did something so much simpler.

After this awesome discovery I started looking into the machines.  I ended up purchasing a Cuttlebug based on the price of the machine (40% off at Joann's) and the price of the embossing folders ($2.99 w/40% off).  This turned out to be much cheaper than any of the other embossing folders for other machines.  I hear you can actually use other brands in this machine as well.  We'll see....but back to my story.  The Cuttlebug is AMAZING!  I love that little thing!!!  It opens up a whole new world for me!

I have to show off my latest creation using the Cuttlebug, inking, and another technique I learned....using color to make things stand out.

Once again, been MIA

I know it's been awhile.  A long long while.  That 30 Days of Truth thing kind of went away.  Maybe I'll start it up again.  I really had nothing to say for the next truth so I've been avoiding it.

So, what's been up with me?  Well, i started my new job just over a month ago and I love it!  It's definitely somewhere I can see myself working for the rest of my working days.  There's so much room for growth.

I've been in a card making kick lately.  I think I prefer it to scrapbooking at the moment. I'm currently working on Christmas cards but I can't post any pictures because I'm sure someone that will get one may see it here before they get it in person.

Here's some of the cards I've made so far, not including Christmas:
Bday Card

Bday Card inside
Kids bday card
Halloween bday card
Halloween inside

There's so much I still need to learn with scrapbooking and making cards.  Mine are more on the basic side.

Other news.  I graduate in less than a month!  December 11th!!  Woohoo!!!

That's all the news I have for now.  Hasta!

Los Luchadores

We love Halloween.  We love dressing up.  We love having awesome costumes.  This year we are luchadores, or Mexican wrestlers.

Last year I was not into dressing up but I had my creative juices running.  It all started with my Wonder Woman costume.  To out be exact, the boots.  I was trying to figure out what I could dress up as the next year that would allow me to wear the boots again.  It came to me...a luchadora.  I was even able to use the corset from my Wonder Woman costume.  It worked great.

Andrew saw my costume and was all in.  He was n't feeling t this year until he saw me all ready to go.

Here is the awesomeness that we came up with:

Day 12
Something you never get compliments on

Pshh, that's easy!  My butt!  No one ever ever ever compliments me on my butt.  Why?  Because I am seriously lacking in that area.

I totally look lopsided.  I have a large chest and no butt so it looks like I can tip over forward at any moment.  Not only that but I can't fill out jeans very well unless they are super tight.  When I am heavy I have a little bit of a butt but when I am thing I am FLAT back there.  :(

That's all.  I don't want to talk about it anymore.

Been MIA

I know I know I have been MIA for a few days.  I promise I have not forgotten about this.  Ideally I'd like to do one truth a day but I can't now.  I started a new job and there's no way to log on here at that place.  I won't even try.  I guess I can always post from my phone but that really sucks and I would only do that for a very short blog.  I promise I will be back...maybe this weekend.

My life has changed this past week.  I love my job.  Yes, I actually like it!  That's pretty exciting.  I can wake up and not d,read going to work.  Such a weird thing for me.  I usually hate work but not this time.  I like this place and the people I work with.  My schedule has changed and I get home pretty late now so I really don't have much time to do anything before it's bed time.

This weekend I'll be back though to post at least one.

30 Days of Truths: Day 11

Day 11

Something people seem to compliment you the most on

Oooh, what do people compliment me on?  I am going to have to say my eyes.  They are a light green, maybe hazel.  When I wear black eyeliner my eyes pop and look super green.  This happens when I wear certain color clothes too.  I can't really tell how much my eye color pops out but I get a lot of compliments on it.

I get compliments on how I juggle life.  I am one to like to stay busy.  A few months ago I was working full time, going to school full time, and being a wife and mother full time.  Many people are amazed at how I can keep it all together and manage such a busy life.  I like it.  I don't know why but I like being busy.  I just finished school so I supplemented that with working out.

When i was a single mom I had the same schedule.  I worked and went to school full time.  I just feel like I need to better myself and by doing all this I keep busy and work on bettering myself.  I would say that is definitely something people compliment me on.  My dedication.

30 Days of Truths: Day 10

Day 10

Someone you need to let go, or wish you didn’t know

There really is no one I need to let go or wish I didn't know.  A few years ago, when I found out who I was, I went through a cleansing process.  I stopped communicating with anyone I felt was not on a similar life path as me.  What I mean is, anyone that would poison all my hard work, negative people, people not going anywhere in life etc.  I don't look back and regret that.  I know that's what I had to do to make myself a better person.

Although I purged my friend's list I don't wish I never knew any of the ones I let go.  Everyone brought some type of lesson to my life, joy, or anger.  I learned from each person something I can take with me forever.  I don't regret knowing anyone.

I am now surrounded by great friends.  I love all of my friends and Andrew made it better by bringing in his amazing friends as well.
